Why become a Gas Engineer?

Our training course is specifically designed to meet the requirements for New Entrants to the Plumbing and Gas Industry.

If you are looking for:

  • Job Security
  • Good living wage
  • Possibilities for advancement

Then a career as a Gas Safe Engineer may be the right choice for you.

How does this work?

The first stage of your journey begins with completing our 8-week foundation Gas Course. Our programme is designed to get you industry ready as soon as possible but also to provide enough time to learn properly in a classroom environment.

You will then collect written and photographic evidence for an on-site portfolio.

Learning will take place in not only the classroom but also in practical workshops, where all key aspects of the course criteria will not only be explained but demonstrated by our experienced trainers and other related activities such as safe isolation, basic health and safety etc will also be included.

Once you have completed the assessments in class the next stage will then be to demonstrate your skills and knowledge in a real working environment through on-job training.

The on-the-job portfolio should be a minimum of 12 weeks, performed under direct supervision of a Gas Safe Registered Engineer.

Should you have any difficulty in arranging an Engineer, for an additional fee we can assist and arrange one for you.

Your portfolio will be monitored and reviewed by our assessors and once your portfolio has been approved and all assessments passed you will be issued with a Fundamental Gas Certificate – Domestic (approved to IGEM/IG/1) by AdSkills Certification.

Upon successful completion of the Foundation Gas Course – you will be eligible to enrol onto the Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS).

Core Domestic Gas Safety Assessments and any work-related appliances that may be required.

The ACS Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) Assessment (Initial) includes two days training and three days assessment.

You are assessed on both theory and practical knowledge. On successful completion of this assessment, the candidate will be issued with a certificate for Core Domestic Gas Safety CCN1 and any additional appliances they have worked on in their portfolio. Please note: CPA1 is included in CCN1. At this point, the candidate will be eligible to apply for Gas Safe Registration.
